· In view of enhancing the electricity transmission network in Bucharest area, last year upgrades amounting to 2.5 million Lei were carried out to the 220/110/20 kV transformer substation Fundeni;

· For 2019 CNTEE Transelectrica SA intends procuring design services for the upgrade work to the 400/220/110/10 kV substation Bucharest South with a view to increase the supply safety of consumers in the southern part of the Capital City.

The National Power Grid Company Transelectrica SA continues refurbishing the 400/220/110/20 kV transformer substation Domnesti as part of the wide enhancement process into the electricity transmission network of Bucharest area. The total value of the refurbishment project for the 400/110/20 kV substation Domnesti that began in 2018 is 144,447,000 Lei. The investment will be completed in 2020.

Refurbishing Domnesti substation is one of the most important investment projects that Transelectrica is performing within Bucharest area. The 400/110/20 kV substation Domnesti has got particular importance for the Electricity Transmission Grid, representing an important power node supplying a significant number of consumers in Bucharest City. The investment means refurbishing all substation’s voltage levels with a view to provide it with the safety and reliability corresponding to the important zone and to the objective in power terms, using worldwide cutting edge technology”, stated Marius Danut CARASOL, Directorate Chairman of CNTEE Transelectrica SA.

Work began in June 2018 in Domnesti substation and is currently executed to the 400 KV GIS substation and the control building. This stage means passing from air-insulated primary equipment to indoor primary equipment located within the 400 kV GIS substation.

The following working stages in Domnesti substation are:

· The 400/110 kV transformer units;

· Building the 110 kV GIS structure;

·The 110/20 kV transformer units;

·Refurbishing the 20 kV substation;

· Carrying out the command control and metering system integrating it into SCADA;

In Bucharest City there are three transformer substations, which are at the same time important nodes of the National Power System (SEN) in terms of electricity supply to the distribution network, namely the consumers of the entire Capital City, providing discharge of electricity generated and its transmission from the two great power generating regions, Oltenia and Dobrogea, to the country’s greatest consumer - the Capital City. The 400/110/20 kV electric substation Domnesti is the last one undergoing upgrade, being preceded by the refurbishment executed in the 400/220/110/10 kV substation Bucharest South (2006-2009; 2014-2015) and by the upgrade provided in the 220/110/10 kV substation Fundeni (2006-2007).

The 110 kV substation Domnesti was commissioned in 1980, and the 400 kV substation - in 1982.
